Hey everyone, it’s Kirsty from Firewalk Events!
This week, I’ve swapped the firepit for something a little different—getting behind the wheel of a Class 2 HGV! Training That’s right, I’m currently training with Mantra Learning in Middleton, and I couldn’t be more excited about this new challenge. It’s a big step outside my usual work of running firewalks and mindset coaching events, but I’ve always believed in pushing myself, and this week is no exception.
For those who don’t know, a Class 2 license allows me to drive large goods vehicles over 3.5 tonnes, and the training is no small feat! It involves learning everything from safety checks to handling a large truck on the road. The course is intense, but I’m loving every minute of it—especially as it takes me back to fond memories of my grandad, Roy, who was a truck driver himself. There’s something about this that feels like I’m honouring his legacy and embracing a new skill that’s been in my family for years.
Mantra Learning has been fantastic so far. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable and supportive, and the atmosphere is perfect for learning. We’re covering a lot of ground, both literally and figuratively, and I can already feel myself growing more confident behind the wheel each day.
Why HGV training, you might ask? Well, I believe in versatility. Firewalk Events has taught me that life is all about stepping out of your comfort zone, taking on new challenges, and continuously learning. Whether it’s walking over hot coals or navigating a heavy goods vehicle, it’s all about mindset and believing in your ability to succeed. Plus, having this qualification opens up new possibilities for me and my business, giving me more freedom and flexibility for future adventures on the road with the company.
I’ll be sharing more updates as I continue my training, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me. If there’s one thing I’ve learned from my firewalking experiences, it’s that we are capable of so much more than we realise—we just have to take that first step.
Wish me luck, and stay tuned for more!
Kirsty
